COVID-19 Response Plan

The Newman Women’s Shelter is continuing to provide support for women and children suffering from domestic and family violence and homelessness.

Our service is operating differently to normal but our focus is on ensuring you get the support and care you need.

We have a COVID-19 Response Plan in place which is updated as government information becomes available.

If you would like to see the detailed plan then contact us.

  • Our staff have been asked to stay home if sick or if they have potentially been contact with someone who is sick.
  • We are updating them as soon as information becomes available from the WA Health Department, WHO and Federal Government so that we are doing our best to protect everyone.
  • We are practicing social distancing, increasing handwashing and we have rolled out additional infection control procedures at the residence and in our vehicles.
  • When you come to us or ring us we will ask you additional questions about your health and that will guide the way we help you. If we cannot admit you to the residence because of an unacceptable health risk, then we will look at other safe alternatives and continue our support by phone and other electronic means.
  • We encourage everyone at the residence to practice social distancing and excellent hygiene.
  • Our staff are reducing the amount of face to face contact they have with their clients and are moving to more online/telephone/face time support.
  • We are NOT accepting any donations of clothing, toys, books or other physical items at the moment. Normally we love to receive them, but right now it is not safe for us to do so.
