Newman Women’s Shelter provides emergency accommodation for women over 18 and their children who need a safe and supportive place to stay. Our shelter is purpose-built to meet the needs of people with disabilities and male children up to 12 years old and can accommodate up to five families (maximum 15 people).
Our Support
At NWS, our Support Advocates walk alongside women on their healing journeys. We provide safe, non-judgmental care that respects each woman’s strengths, culture, and experiences, recognising the unique challenges faced by women in regional and remote communities.
We work with women to:
Provide 24/7 support from an experienced, dedicated team
Offer a safe space to rest, recover, and heal
Provide compassionate, non-judgmental, culturally respectful care and support
Identifying risk through a comprehensive assessment and personalised safety plan
Work with you to develop support plans to support women to achieve their desired outcomes
Connect women to other services including legal, financial, housing, mental health or other specialist services
Provide individualised case management plans that support women to achieve their desired outcomes
Our aim is to empower women through a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach that supports women and their children to rebuild safety, confidence, and wellbeing.
