Elder Abuse

Elder abuse can happen anywhere - in residential aged care, home care and in families.

Elder abuse is defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a single or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person.

The Shelter can help Elders who are experiencing abuse.  Often, The Shelter will support Elders by getting them in touch with a professional service through Advocare.
